From time to time we like to share something that’s not Staffordshire related, but is just so inspirational that we feel compelled to share. He is one just inspirational find they we think will blow you away, especially if you enjoy urban photography.
Dark Pripyat is an extraordinary interactive collection of pictures from the exclusion zone in Chernobyl and the abandoned city of Pripyat. Taken by urban photographers Ric Wright and Fraser Blakemore during visits from 2010 & 2011 and available as a free downloadable book from the apple iBookstore and is also available in print.
We are particularly in awe of the concert hall photo, which despite the awful disaster which has led to the complete decay of the city, somehow still manages to conjure up the joyous sounds that must have once played there.
In fact you can here those very sounds, because the free download also includes a music backing track composed from the actual sheet music found in the derelict venue.
It is the perfect soundtrack to browse the other photographs which collectively show how 27 years on nature is slowly taking back the city.
Dark Pripyat is Urbanpixels’ first interactive photo book is available free for you to download right now.
Dark Pripyat Has to be one of the best FREE books I have ever downloaded – Greg Mckenzie, iBooks user.
