An independent art school is ruling the roost in Staffordshire, providing classes and workshops for children and adults alike each and every week in Lichfield.
Henhouse Children’s Art School was formed by professional Staffordshire artists Henrietta Ellis and Celia Houghton. They are both very passionate about their creativity and wish to pass this on.
I have always wanted to run a visual art school, just like the many dance and stage schools that are available. I wanted to share my enthusiasm for the visual arts with the next generation and help people of all ages and abilities to be creative.
Their aim is to share their skills, knowledge and enthusiasm with future generations. They want to provide a space and time where anyone of any age or ability can feel free to develop their ideas and their individual creativity.
WHAT DO THEY DO

Thursday Art Classes – 4pm to 5:30pm for 5yrs to teens take place at Darwin Hall, Heathcot Place, off The Whytmore, Lichfield
Little Chicks – 2nd Friday of the month 9:30am to 10:15am for toddlers and parents/carers at The Community Room, Tescos, WS13 6DZ, Lichfield
Teens (Booking essential)
Saturday – 12:00pm to 2 pm for 11 years+ with GCSE support take place at The Community Room, Tescos, WS13 6DZ, Lichfield
Thursday – 5:45pm to 7:15pm for 11 years+ with GCSE support take place at Darwin Hall, Heathcot Place, off The Whytmore, Lichfield
Adults
They also run adult art events, and bespoke parties including:
Prosecco & Paintbrush Evenings – a monthly fun night out creating your own version of artwork by the Great Masters to more Contemporary Artists. Usually takes place at McKenzie’s in the City Restaurant in Lichfield.
Hen Parties/Bridal Showers – create fascinators, decorations for hats, headbands, corsages, table decorations, bunting etc for the wedding, create accessories, pimp T-shirts and pants for the Hen Night or create a quilt for the bride.
Baby Showers – personalise baby grows, hats and bibs, create pictures and bunting for the baby’s room or create a quilt.
