Disused and vacant buildings across Stoke in Staffordshire will become theatres, cinemas, exhibition and arts spaces thanks to almost half a million pounds of new funding to create the programme named ARTCITY.

The Artcity project will be realised by a collection of Staffordshire Arts organisations from Stoke, including B Arts, Airspace Gallery, Partners In Creative Learning, Restoke, Letting In the Light and The Cultural Sisters

The £450,000 award is from The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and will allow for a five-year programme of work that will directly support artistic activity in redundant spaces across the city of Stoke on Trent

[blockquote]Artcity will allow more graduates from Staffordshire University to live and work in the city after their course has finished and will see more arts events happening in Stoke and help improve the creative profile of Stoke outside of Staffordshire[/blockquote]

The entire programme will be developed in partnership with Stoke City Council and Staffordshire University.

Can anyone name a disused building or space that could benefit to being turned into a creative space?  let us know in the comments below
