Lichfield Festival Organiser Shortlisted for Prestigious Arts Award

Staffordshire Arts

Pauline Round, one of the board directors of the Lichfield Festival in Staffordshire, has been shortlisted for the Arts & Business Cultural Champion Award.

The Arts & Business Awards in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover celebrate the finest collaborations between the commercial and cultural sectors.   This year, over 100 collaborations entered across the seven award categories.

Pauline’s  nomination recognises her many years flying the flag for the Festival’s founders, of whom her late husband had been one, establishing the Festival in 1981. She has given most generously of her money as a sponsor of Festival events, often adding additional anonymous donations for specific needs not easily financed elsewhere, including sponsoring contemporary dance and early music.

She has also given most generously of her time, doing everything from hosting influential prospective partners in business or other areas of the arts, down to the most menial of tasks, from envelope stuffing to toilet cleaning. In 2011 she spear-headed the Festival’s 30th Birthday Campaign, raising thousands of pounds from our supporters to celebrate our history and help fund the future, our most successful individual campaign in recent years.

In addition to all this, she has been an enthusiastic and committed champion of the organisation, whether rallying our Friend’s association or singing our praises to the outside world.

All of the Staffordshire Arts community have their fingers crossed for Pauline – until the award winners are announced on 14 May 2013
