Stafford Artist paints her life at Ancient High House Exhibition

Present View Art Exhibition By Clare Lord in Stafford

‘Present View’ is a new exhibition from Staffordshire artist Clare Lord, taking place at The Ancient High House Gallery in Stafford from 30 May 2013.

The exhibition brings together very different aspects of Clare’s work and her life through her paintings and drawings.
Large Scale Oil Paintings
Raised in North Yorkshire, a series of large scale oil paintings of the Dales reflects much of Clare’s childhood , including the loss of her Father and her love for him and his home town. The paintings strive to capture the many faces of the landscape from bleak and forbidding to warm and expansive.
Pencil Drawings
A pencil drawing of a Yorkshire gate led Clare to become intrigued with the subject.

[blockquote]The gate has a strong symbolic quality if its ‘framing’ of a given view is thought of in relation to an individual person’s ‘framing’ or viewpoint on the world. [/blockquote]

Each of the gate drawings, which are all in pencil and highly detailed, is carried out in a different pencil and named as such which alludes both to the individuality of the image and the sometimes technical nature of artistic representation.
Abstract
Finally there is a collection of large abstract paintings.

[blockquote]These are directly derived from the gate drawings and in a way do the opposite to them – exploring form and colour without regard to representation.[/blockquote]

The exhibition at the Ancient High House begins 31 May until 15 June 2013, with a special preview night on 30 May
