Mel, from Stoke-on-Trent, draws on some of her own past experiences working as a housing officer, to give a unique gritty viewpoint to her writing – which is often dark and violent.  In addition to the ESTATE books, she has also had success with the character Detective Sergeant Allie Shenton, who appeared in her TAUNTING THE DEAD novel, and who will appear again as a central figure in two new books FOLLOW THE LEADER out in Spring 2015 and ONLY THE BRAVE in Summer 2015.
