World Book Night 2014 List Unveiled

Staffordshire Arts

Celebrating books of all kinds and the pure joy of reading, World Book Night is an annual event held worldwide which in Staffordshire sees dozens of small and large scale reading events run by passionate volunteers gifting books in their community to share their love of reading.

Twenty selected books will be given away during the free events, which in 2014 will be held on April 23 in the UK,  as well as Ireland and the US, and coincides with the UNESCO International Day of the Book

A network of volunteers will distribute the books across the UK to encourage more people to begin reading, or to widen their reading experiences. The list includes books by Agatha Christie, Jeffrey Archer, Andy McNab and Roald Dahl.

Organisers say the 2014 titles have been chosen to appeal to and inspire people who “haven’t yet been turned on” to reading, with an emphasis on books that might particularly interest teenagers and young adults.

World Book Night is an independent charity, though it is partnered with the BBC and The Reading Agency.
