About Joining The Dots
Joining the Dots is a new support programme for entrepreneurial artists, promoters and others working in independent music in England. We want to support game-changing ideas, share know-how and connect people.

You can apply for ‘seed corn’ funding of up to £10,000 to test alternative models you think could help make live music more financially viable. What you apply for has to focus on a new model in one of more of these 3 areas of live music:

 • Financing touring, commissioning and presenting live music
 • Using digital technology to increase live attendance and income
 • Developing young adult audiences for specialist independent music, such as jazz, folk and electronica
How To Apply
Applications will be assesed in two in two stages.

To apply initially at Stage 1, pretty much all you’ll have to do is send ina short film, which needs to be under 3 minutes long to be eligible.

It doesn’t have to be high quality  – It’s fine to film it on your phone; you won’t have to be the best actor in the world.

What you will have to do in your film is include these five things:

1- Who you are and what you do

2 -What your idea is

3 -Why you think it’s a game changer that other people working in independent music could benefit from

4 -And which of the three key areas we’re interested in it relates to:

Financing touring, commissioning and presenting live music

Using digital technology to increase live attendance and income

Developing young adult audiences for specialist independent music, such as jazz, folk and electronica

5 – What you think your total budget for making it happen might be

With the film you also need to complete this application form. The form should be quick and easy to complete, and only asks for basic information and a rough idea of how much you think it will cost you to turn your idea into reality.

Before you apply, you are advised to go through all the questions in the Joining The Dots FAQs section and their website pages at http://joiningthedotsmusic.com/
