New Contemporary Dance Workshops Launched In Staffordshire

New dance workshops to develop skills in creating and performing contemporary dance work in Staffordshire

A season of professionally run  contemporary dance workshops are on offer both aspiring performers as well as professional artists.  The professionally run monthly two hour sessions are being delivered by Staffordshire performance company ‘ Restoke’, and designed to to develop contemporary dance technique and skills in creating and performing dance work.

The initiative follows on from the success of the organisations PALACE performance piece, which was both performed and filmed in the redundant Bethesda Chapel in Stoke-on-Trent, and achieved wide critical acclaim.

The monthly dance workshops will take place on the 3rd Saturday of each month with each focussing on a different aspect of contemporary dance or creative work.  They will be led by London Trinity-Laban conservatoire trained Clare Reynolds.

Clare is currently the resident director/choreographer for Restoke and creates, delivers and performs dance work with a diverse range of people and communities.

[h3]How to pARTicipate[/h3]

There is no upper age limit – and workshops are open to everyone and aimed at aspiring performers, students, graduates and professionals. In fact it is the mixture of skills and backgrounds that will give the workshop programme its diverse perspective.  so whether its your first time, you dance for a living, you are will gain new skills by dancing together.

The first workshop takes place on 20 July 2pm-4pm at The Mitchell Arts Centre, Broad Street Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, ST1 4HG

This first workshop will focus on floor-work. Be prepared to dance bare-foot and move in and out of the floor, wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Cost: £5/£3.50 concession (under 16, student, OAP)
