Paperman Producer Thrown Out Of Oscars

Staffordshire Arts

I have to admit that this story doesn’t have a Staffordshire connection, but thought it interesting enough to retell here.

Apparently, Kristina Reed, the producer of the superb animation Paperman, was ‘removed’ from the Oscars ceremony by security shortly after the film scooped the Academy Award for best animated short.

On hearing the movie had won an Oscar she apparently began throwing paper planes from her balcony seat. None of them reached the stage, but the activity was deemed a security risk, and she was kicked out.

The matter must have been resolved, as she was allowed to return to her seat later in the proceedings,

The black and white Paperman though really did deserve its Oscar win, and is a blend of hand-drawn and computer animation directed by John Kahrs.

You can see the animation here in full – but no throwing paper planes!!
