Penkridge author’s book well covered

Penkridge author Amanda Parkyn, who wrote a memoir of her experiences living in colonial Africa, has narrowly missed out on scooping a prize for her book cover.

Her book Roses Under the Miombo Trees was nominated for Matado’s 2012 cover design competition with the public asked to vote for their favourite.

Sales of the book have also raised more than £100 for charity SOS Children’s Village, which helps youngsters in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Roses Under the Miombo Trees is available in Penkridge at Footprint and Penkridge Hardware, as well as online at www.troubador.co.uk.
