Stafford Arts Festival 2013 Events Programme Announced

[h2]Stafford Arts Festival 2013 – Saturday 7th September[/h2]

The third Stafford Arts Festival takes place in the town centre on Saturday 7th September 2013.

Promoted by Stafford Town Centre Partnership, a collaboration of around 120 Town Centre businesses and organisations, this event showcases all aspects of the arts including music, dance, painting, sculpture, textiles, literature and more.

Iconic buildings such as the Ancient High House, County Buildings, Shire Hall Gallery as well as commercial and business properties, will open their doors to the public and welcome visitors to enjoy a whole host of activities.

The festival takes places in various venues and locations, both indoor and outdoor, around the town centre, with the main performance area being in Market Square.

[h3]Africa Entsha [/h3]

Africa Entsha is an acapella group from Soweto in South Africa whose great music, inspirational harmonies and fabulous dance combine to create an irresistible performance. Their harmonies are described as mesmerising and their second appearance in Stafford will be unmissable.

[h3]Caricaturist [/h3]

Guildhall Shopping Centre. Ever fancied have your character drawn? This is your chance to get one done.

[h3]David Waters – Watercolour Workshops [/h3]

Ancient High House. Watercolour painting demonstrations from local artist David Waters, and a selected display of his pictures. A ‘drop in’ opportunity to see the artist at work and to ask questions about his techniques.

[h3]‘Rainy Afternoons’ Derek Tamea – Artist in Residence [/h3]

Ancient High House. Derek is in residence to discuss his latest photographic exhibition. A collection of 30 colour photographs depicting his favourite images captured over 50 years.

[h3]Children’s arts and crafts workshops [/h3]

Castle Gallery at the High House.

[h3]Artists in Residence [/h3]

Throughout the Town. See a number of artists at work in the town centre, using various mediums to record the townscape and topography during ‘Stafford Arts Festival’.

This work can be submitted for an exhibition and competition at the Ancient High House in November.
