Get Dancing Legacy Shines

Staffordshire Arts

The Get Dancing Project has certainly left its legacy in the county in 2013 with over 30 Get Dancing groups across Staffordshire now dancing and performing regularly.

The Get Dancing Festival which was held 1 July 2012 at Stafford Castle was a chance to see a selection of these groups as well as professional dancers, open workshops and dance films all for free.

Get dancing was the first ever county wide dance programme which provided hundreds of people in Staffordshire with the fantastic opportunity to take part in a London 2012 inspired dance project or event.

To celebrate the work and skills that have been nurtured across Staffordshire as part of Get Dancing there were several performances by community dance groups alongside inspiring work by local professional dance artists.   The event was totally free, you didn’t even need a ticket, you just turned up on the day and enjoyed yourselves. People brought the whole family and had a lovely summers Sunday out, surrounded by trees, flowers, dance and friendly people.
